Tart. Fruity. Ruby red. Hibiscus doesn't exactly enter quietly.
Dried hibiscus flowers brew into a striking crimson infusion with a bright, mouth-puckering tartness and naturally fruity character. Think cranberry-like tang rather than sugary sweetness.
Steep it hot or pour it over ice, simmer it into syrups and sauces, or pair it with ginger, citrus, mint, berries and warming spices. It's also an easy way to bring acidity, color and a little drama to drinks without reaching for artificial flavor or color.
Use a little for brightness. Use more when you want hibiscus to run the meeting.
Subtle wasn't really the assignment.
