Sumac

Sumac is one of those ingredients that makes you wonder where it’s been hiding. Deep ruby-red with a naturally tangy, citrusy flavor, it wakes up food without adding liquid or overpowering everything else on the plate.

Sprinkle it over roasted vegetables, chicken, fish, rice, salads, hummus, eggs, potatoes, or anywhere you’d normally reach for a squeeze of lemon. It brings just enough tartness to make everything taste a little more interesting.

And yes, it’s gorgeous. But we’re eating it, not decorating with it.
